The official language is Spanish and the currency is the Dominican peso. Dominican Republic achieved its independence on 27 February 1844. The Dominican Republic is also the birthplace of many artists recognized international-mind as Juan Luis Guerra, Romeo Santos, Milly Quezada, Fernando Villalona, Hector Acosta and many more. Moreover also, the Dominican Republic have very important and prominent athletes both on the baseball as to Olympic level as is the case of Pedro Martines, Samy Sosa, Bartolo Colon, Felix Sanchez and many more.

The Dominican Republic is also the birthplace of great writers, politicians and people autodidacts as is the case of Juan Bosch who was very prominent writer and politician in Latin America, famous for being the master of story and Great poets such as Pedro Mir. The Dominican Republic is a democratic republic, formed by 31 provinces and one National District.
